Co-founded and directed by Cecil Shoemaker, the Greater Lafayette Children's Choir merged with the Bach Chorale Organization to become the Bach Chorale Children's Choir in 1999, thereby providing citizens of Tippecanoe and surrounding counties with an outstanding choral music learning environment for children between the ages of 8-14.

The community choirs are not-for-profit organizations founded in February 1992 by Cecil Shoemaker and Thomas Saxon, and follow a process-oriented philosophy of taking children from where they are and developing them into artists. The most important qualities are motivation, commitment, self-discipline and a willingness to improve vocally. No child is turned away who wants to a part of a choir, although choir experience and age 11 is required for a Bach Chorale Youth Chorus member. Financial assistance is available upon request.
